Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Update NPM packages

An interactive CLI tool to update outdated packages in your project. The tool supports multiple package managers: npm, yarn, and pnpm.


Features

  • Detect outdated packages.
  • Choose between npm, yarn, or pnpm as your package manager.
  • Interactively select specific packages to update or update all at once.
  • Provides clear feedback on the update process.

Installation

Install the package:

npm install -g update-npm-pkg

You can now use the update-pkg command in your terminal.


Usage

Run the CLI tool in your project directory:

update-pkg

Step

  1. Select your preferred package manager (npm, yarn, or pnpm).
  2. View a list of outdated packages.
  3. Choose:
    • Update all packages.
    • Select specific packages to update.

Example

[!TIP] Behind the scenes, the tool runs the following command for each selected package:

npm install [email protected]
npm install @types/[email protected]
  1. Or update all or specific packages:

[!TIP] The tool will simply run the following command to update all packages:

npm update

Supported Commands

  • Update All: Update all outdated packages.
  • Update Specific: Select specific packages to update.
