Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

muro — real paint colours in your terminal

Search 51,000+ paint colours from 35 brand catalogues, find the same colour in another brand, and paint your own room photo with Muro: each result comes back as an image, with the paint's brand, name and code, and a list of the closest paints you can buy.

npx usemuro colors search "agreeable gray"
npx usemuro colors equivalents "Farrow & Ball" "Hague Blue" --country PL

npm install -g usemuro # then just: muro …

Paint a photo

Painting uses a Muro API key and the credits of your Muro plan (1, 2 or 3 per colour for Standard, HD or Ultra). Create a key at app.usemuro.com → Settings → API keys.

muro login # paste the key once; stored in ~/.config/muro, or use MURO_API_KEY

Photos and limits

  • Formats: JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 12 MB, as a file or an https:// link. HEIC/HEIF from an iPhone is converted to JPEG automatically on macOS (built-in sips); on other systems, save it as JPEG first.
  • Colours per call: 1 to 12, each one a separate image.
  • Quality: standard (≈1K, 1 credit) on any plan, hd (≈2K, 2 credits) from Pro, ultra (≈4K, 3 credits) from Premium.
  • Uploads: up to 100 photos a day per account.
  • Time: about 30 seconds for two colours in Standard; a time-of-day version about 15 seconds. Every command takes --json for scripts and agents. visualize asks before spending credits; --yes skips the question (required when not in a terminal).

Screen colours approximate real paint. On the wall the result depends on the base, sheen and tinting, so test a sample before you buy.

For AI agents
