Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

visualcopium

v1.1.2

Published

Copium for visual programmers!

Readme

You don't need a silly custom language, you don't need Scratch. You need a brittle cross between semi-real code (aka JavaScript, but how real is that?) and visualness!

(skip to installation)

Visualcopium does just that! We provide separate "blocks" for both the web and Node.js/Bun, but also some generic ones. And to prove its amazingness, here's some examples:

Repeating is fun!

Repeat(10 /*times*/, () => {
	// some code that does stuff 10 times :)
	SetVariable("message", Ask("Do you wanna? ")) // you can ask the user stuff!
	Say("Here's a number anyways! " + PickRandom(1, 100)) // you can say stuff back!
})

SetVariable("canBeFalseIdfk", btrue)
RepeatWhile(() => GetVariable("canBeFalseIdfk"), () => { // Some conditions (like ()=>canBeFalseIdfk) might be a block and return a boolean instead of passing one directly! For cases where the boolean might change over time.
	SetVariable("canBeFalseIdfk", bfalse)
	Say("Yay canBeFalseIdfk is now false!")
})

RepeatWhile(bfalse, () => { // Your condition can also be a boolean directly! See a few sections below for help with our *special* booleans.
	SayError("Bro if you can see this your computer might be broken :(")
})

Forever(() => {
	// dude this'll NEVER stop :sob:
	SayError("Why did you finish already? Here's an error you ajfojafjiwaifju!!")

	If(KeyPressed("Escape"), () => {
		SayError("There is no escape!")
	})
})

And if you're a silly person, there's an optional block that waits for this supposed page to load:

WhenFlagClicked(() => {
	// some code that does stuff AFTER the page loads...
})

For conditions (the first thingy passed to RepeatWhile and more), we reimplement a style of booleans similar to Scratch's. Is something true? Import and type btrue! Is something false? Import and type bfalse!

Installation

You can either install our JavaScript (NPM) package globally, or make a lil project folder. Either way!

npm install -g visualcopium

# ORRRR make your own lil project folder :)
npm init
npm install visualcopium
