Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

npm CI MIT

Part of nuikit: shadcn/ui and Tailwind v4 for FiveM NUI, rendered right. Website & live demo →

Make shadcn/ui and Tailwind v4 render in FiveM. FiveM's NUI is Chromium 103, and Tailwind v4 targets 111+. This Vite plugin lowers your CSS at build time, keeps themes live, and gives you in-game hot reload.

npm i -D vite-plugin-nuikit
// vite.config.ts
import tailwindcss from "@tailwindcss/vite";
import { nuikit } from "vite-plugin-nuikit";

export default defineConfig({
  plugins: [react(), tailwindcss(), nuikit()], // after tailwindcss()
});

What it fixes

| Tailwind v4 / shadcn output | Chromium 103 | After | |---|---|---| | oklch() / lab() theme colors | ignored | hex, with wide-gamut @supports fallbacks kept | | color-mix(in oklab, var(--primary) 50%, transparent) (bg-primary/50) | ignored | rgba(var(--primary-rgb), calc(var(--primary-a) * .5)), live with theme changes | | @media (width >= 48rem) | ignored | @media (min-width: 48rem) | | translate: / scale: / rotate: | ignored | one transform, composed via non-inheriting @property | | linear-gradient(to right in oklab, …) | ignored | linear-gradient(to right, …) | | CSS nesting, dvh | ignored | flattened, vh | | :has() (shadcn Button, Card, Item) | ignored | reported; hasPolyfill: true opts in to css-has-pseudo (static menus only, not 10 Hz HUDs) | | @container, light-dark(), @starting-style | ignored | reported at build so nothing fails silently |

Verified by rendering in a real Chromium 103 in CI: see examples/cef-proof.

Options

nuikit({
  manifest: "../fxmanifest.lua", // where ui_page lives
  page: "web/dist/index.html",   // ui_page value for builds
  hotInGame: true, // point ui_page at the dev server during `vite dev`
  compat: true, // or a Chromium major (e.g. 120) when Cfx updates CEF; false to disable
  hasPolyfill: false, // opt in to css-has-pseudo for :has() (static UIs)
  report: true, // print the compat summary
});

It also sets base: "./" (NUI loads from nui://) and build.target: "chrome103".

Runtime themes

Opacity modifiers read --x-rgb / --x-a channels. To change a theme at runtime, use applyTheme() from nuikit-core. It sets both.

nuikit-doctor

Audit or fix any built NUI, even one not built with this plugin:

npx nuikit-doctor web/dist
npx nuikit-doctor web/dist --fix

Programmatic

import { lowerCss, formatReport } from "vite-plugin-nuikit";
const { code, report } = lowerCss(css, { chrome: 103 });
