Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Lokalise Assistant Extension for Visual Studio Code

Lokalise Assistant is a powerful extension for Visual Studio Code that streamlines the process of working with translations by integrating with Lokalise, a popular localization and translation management platform. This extension is designed to make it easier for developers to fetch, compare, and synchronize translations between Lokalise and local JSON files directly within the VS Code.

Key Features

  • Fetch Translations: Automatically download translations from Lokalise.
  • Compare Translations: Easily compare Lokalise translations with your local JSON files.
  • Exclude Specific Tags: Filter out translations containing specified tags, offering more control over the data you synchronize.
  • Streamline Localization Workflow: Simplify the process of managing translations, saving time and reducing errors.

Getting Started

Prerequisites

  • A Lokalise account with access to your project's API token.

Setup

  1. Obtain the API Token from Lokalise: Log into your Lokalise account and navigate to the API tokens section to create or copy your API token.

  2. Configure the Extension: In Visual Studio Code, go to the extension settings and enter your Lokalise API token.

  3. Specify the Lokalise Project ID:

    • Open the Lokalise Assistant panel in VS Code.
    • Enter the ID of your Lokalise project. You can find the project ID in the Lokalise web interface URL while viewing your project.
  4. Customize Your Workflow:

    • Optionally, in the extension settings, specify tags to exclude certain translations from being fetched or compared.

Benefits for Developers

  • Efficient Localization Management: Manage translations directly within your development environment, eliminating the need to switch between different tools.
  • Real-time Comparison: Instantly see how your local translations stack up against those in Lokalise, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Customizable Filtering: Exclude translations with specific tags to focus on the most relevant content for your project.
  • Seamless Integration: Designed to fit naturally into your VS Code workflow, enhancing productivity without disrupting your development process.

We are continuously working to improve the Lokalise Assistant extension and welcome any feedback or suggestions. If you encounter any issues or have feature requests, please feel free to open an issue on our GitHub repository.
