Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

SCSS Alias

SCSS Alias is a lightweight Visual Studio Code extension that allows you to use Cmd+Click (Mac) or Ctrl+Click (Windows/Linux) to jump to SCSS files that use custom import aliases in @use, @forward, or @import statements.

⚠️ This extension does not configure aliases for your SCSS compiler — it only helps resolve aliases inside VS Code for easier navigation.

✨ Features

  • Supports SCSS and Sass syntax
  • Supports Vue files with <style lang="scss"> blocks
  • Resolves imports using aliases like @scss/ or @mixins/
  • Works with @use, @forward, and @import
  • Handles multiple SCSS resolution patterns including:
    • _filename.scss
    • _index.scss
    • Direct .scss or .sass file references

💡 Example Usage

SCSS/Sass Files

Given this import:

@use '@mixins/spacing';
@use '@scss/components/button';

Vue Files

In Vue files with <style lang="scss"> blocks:

<template>
  <div class="container">Hello</div>
</template>

<style lang="scss">
@use '@mixins/spacing';
@use '@scss/components/button';
</style>

You can then Cmd+Click or Ctrl+Click to go directly to that file. The right click and Go to definition works too.

Resolves to src/scss/mixins/_spacing.scss, src/scss/components/button.scss or similar.

⚙️ Configuration

"vscodeScssAlias.aliases": {
  "@scss": "src/scss",
  "@mixins": "src/scss/mixins",
}

⚡ Commands

To run a command, open Command Palette Ctrl + Shift + p or Cmd + Shift + p on MacOS. Type SCSS Alias: and then select the command: Setup or Reload.

Setup

Open the Command Palette and type Rin SCSS Alias, then click to add the settings into your .vscode/settings.json file. Run SCSS Alias: Setup Project Configuration

Reload

You can reload your settings using the command: Reload SCSS Aliases Open the Command Palette and type Reload SCSS Aliases, then click to reload the settings.

🚧 Note

This extension only affects your editor experience — you still need to configure these same aliases in your SCSS build system (e.g., webpack, Vite, Dart Sass CLI) for your project to compile correctly.

This extension is published to both VS Code Marketplace and Open VSX (for Cursor and other compatible editors).
