Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

wait-for-gem-version

A CLI tool that polls the Rubygems API until a specific version is available.

Usage

To check every 20 seconds, with a maximum of 2 minutes

npx wait-for-gem-version GEM_NAME 1.2.3 --interval 20 --max-duration 120

If the version is successfully found, the CLI will output with an exit code of 0. Otherwise, the exit code will be 1 to indicate an error

Debugging

This CLI uses the debug module to enable debug messages:

DEBUG=wait-for-gem-version npx wait-for-gem-version GEM_NAME 1.2.3 --interval 20 --max-duration 120
