Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v1.0.2

Published

MCP server for the Wayback Machine, snapshot history, page availability, and dead site recovery.

Readme

wayback-mcp

MCP server for the Internet Archive Wayback Machine: closest snapshots, snapshot history for a URL, and archived page retrieval. Keyless.

Tools

  • get_snapshots — List the Wayback Machine snapshot history for a URL, optionally limited to a date range.
  • domain_snapshots — List archived pages across a whole domain (every path), not just one exact URL.
  • site_history — First and last capture of a URL, plus which years it was archived in.
  • get_availability — Check whether a page is archived and get its closest snapshot.
  • read_snapshot — Read the text content of an archived page — useful for reading dead or changed sites.
  • compare_years — Read the same URL as it looked in several different years, to see how a page changed.
  • status_history — One row per archived month with the HTTP status recorded then, so a page that started redirecting or failing can be dated.
  • capture_gaps — How much of a period is actually archived for a URL: captured months, missing months, coverage percent and the longest gap.
  • snapshot_diff — Compare the same page in two archived years and list the wording that appeared and the wording that vanished.
  • broken_pages — Archived captures across a domain that were not HTTP 200 - redirects and dead pages, which is what link rot looks like.

Premium tools

These tools need a licence key:

  • content_profile

The tool bodies run on our gateway, not inside this package, so the key is what buys access. Buy one at https://buy.polar.sh/polar_cl_mrO7rS5LZxpqM7oAFFEA10i9121J240U40IIj4JRZO4 and set it in your MCP client config:

"env": { "MCP_LICENSE_KEY": "polar_..." }

The gateway checks the key against Polar and gives every key 1,000 free premium calls a month before per-call billing starts. Every other tool on this server stays free.
