Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

webtail

v0.0.12

Published

Client for webtail.me

Readme

webtail

Objective

webtail.me allows you to tail files to the web for sharing with other people.

webtail is the command-line client for doing this.

Installation

Requires nodejs

npm install -g webtail

Quick Start

Start tailing

> webtail --new https://webtail.me/ox/ mylogfile.txt
tailing to https://webtail.me/ox/3426f2b6

Point a browser or curl at that url

> curl https://webtail.me/ox/3426f2b6

Usage

WW WW EEEEEEE BBBBBBB TTTTTTTT AAA IIII LL MM MM EEEEEEE
WW WW WW EE BB BB TT AA AA II LL MMM MMM EE
WW WW WW EE BB BB TT AA AA II LL MMMM MMMM EE
WW WW WW EEEEE BBBBBBB TT AA AA II LL MM MMM MM EEEEE
WW WW WW EE BB BB TT AAAAAAAAA II LL MM MM EE
WW WW WW EE BB BB TT AA AA II LL DOT MM MM EE
WWW WWW EEEEEEE BBBBBBB TT AA AA IIII LLLLLLL TOD MM MM EEEEEEE

Usage: node ./webtail.js [--new] url_to_webtail [file_to_tail]
   or: node ./webtail.js login access_token

node ./webtail.js login has to be run at least once to set the access token

node ./webtail.js can either be used by piping data to it:

  > tail -100lf log.txt | node ./webtail.js https://webtail.me/ox/log.txt

or it can read the file directly, in which case it behaves like tail -f:

  > node ./webtail.js https://webtail.me/ox/log.txt log.txt

To generate new random paths, use the --new flag:

  > node ./webtail.js --new https://webtail.me/ox myfile
  tailing to https://webtail.me/ox/3426f2b6

Options:
--new If specified, a new random path will be created under the given
              url.
--insecure If specified, all server certificates will be trusted. Typically
only used for testing with local server.
