Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Wensity CLI

Install open-code components and UI primitives from the Wensity registry into your project. There is no @wensity/ui runtime dependency and no theme provider to wire up.

# Initialise (defaults: Tabler icons, medium radius)
npx wensity@latest init

# Or apply a shareable preset from https://ui.wensity.com/docs/primitives/setup
# Preset template support requires wensity 0.1.9 or later
npx wensity@latest init --preset <wsty1-code>
npx wensity@latest init --preset <wsty1-code> --template next

# Install a primitive or component
npx wensity@latest add button
npx wensity@latest add liquid-multimodal-input

Presets (primitives)

Generate a preset on /docs/primitives/setup, then run the copied init --preset command once. Settings land in wensity.json (style.iconLibrary, radius, fonts, control-solid colors) and a delimited --primitive-* CSS block in your Tailwind CSS file.

Later wensity add <primitive> / wensity update <primitive> reads that style automatically:

  • Colors, radius, and fonts re-apply into the CSS block
  • Tabler ↔ Lucide icon imports transform at install time for UI primitives only
  • Mandatory dependency swap installs exactly one icon package when icons are used

Plain init (no --preset) refuses to overwrite an existing wensity.json unless you pass --force. init --preset merges style (+ CSS) into an existing config without rewriting installed component source.

Commands

| Command | Purpose | |---|---| | wensity init [--preset <code>] [--template next\|vite\|astro\|react-router] | Create / merge project config | | wensity login | Save a dashboard API token for Pro | | wensity logout | Clear credentials | | wensity whoami | Show current user / plan | | wensity list | List registry entries | | wensity add <slug> | Install source (skips existing files) | | wensity update <slug> | Re-download and overwrite local source | | wensity version | Print 0.1.9 |

Premium components and blocks require an API token from the Wensity dashboard. Tokens are stored at ~/.config/wensity/credentials.json with 0600 permissions.

CLI vs shadcn

| | Wensity CLI | Public shadcn registry (@wensity/*) | |---|---|---| | Stored presets (wensity.json style) | Yes | No | | Lucide delivery | Yes (CLI transform) | No — Tabler-canonical payloads | | Full editable source | Yes | Yes | | @wensity/ui runtime | Never | Never | | Premium /components | Token + license | Not exported |
