Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

A simple command-line tool to get weather information for any city around the world.

🚀 Quick Start

# Using vlx (recommended)
vlx wetornot "New York"
vlx wetornot London
vlx wetornot Tokyo

📦 Installation

Option 1: Use directly with vlx (No installation required)

vlx wetornot <city>

Option 2: Install globally

vlt install -g wetornot
wetornot <city>

Option 3: Clone and use locally

git clone <repository-url>
cd wetornot
vlt install
vlt link  # Makes it available globally
wetornot <city>

⚠️ Notes

  • The tool requires an active internet connection
  • Open-Meteo API is completely free with no rate limits for normal usage
  • City names are case-insensitive
  • For cities with common names, the API will return the most populous match

🆘 Troubleshooting

"City not found" error

  • Check the spelling of the city name
  • Try using the full city name or include the country (e.g., "Paris, FR")
  • Some very small towns might not be in the database

API connection errors

  • No API key is required for this service
  • The Open-Meteo API is free and has no authentication

Network errors

  • Check your internet connection
  • Some corporate networks might block the API calls
  • Try again after a few moments
