Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

wh-skills

Skills that make life easier. Free and open source agent skills by Lim Wai Hong (https://www.limwaihong.com), for Claude Code, Codex and the Claude app.

npm version npm downloads GitHub stars License: MIT

Install

npx wh-skills

Pick the skills you want. Then choose Claude Code, Codex or both, and all projects or the current project. Use the arrow keys to move, Space to select, and Return to confirm. You can rename a skill during install, or install one skill directly:

npx wh-skills wh-company-brief

Needs Node.js 20.12 or later.

Using the Claude app (desktop, web or mobile)? Download wh-company-brief.zip. In Claude, go to Customize → Skills → + → Create skill → Upload a skill, and upload the ZIP.

Skills

| Skill | What it does | |---|---| | wh-company-brief | Turns a company name, job link or job description into a sourced quick brief: how the company makes money, recent news, growth and caution signals, competitors, talking points and stories to prepare. |

Use it

Claude Code:

/wh-company-brief Grab — Senior Product Designer

Codex (turn on web search, so the brief can use live sources):

$wh-company-brief Grab — Senior Product Designer

Claude app: type /wh-company-brief Grab, or ask "brief me on Grab".

Add a job link or your resume for a more personal brief. In Claude Code and Codex, briefs are saved to company-briefs/<company>-<date>.md in your current folder, so you build a library of briefs over time.

What a brief contains

  • Quick Summary and Signal (Healthy, Mixed or Caution)
  • Snapshot: founded, HQ, listing or funding, size, latest numbers
  • How they make money
  • Recent news from the last 90 days
  • Signals to know: growth and caution
  • Competitors
  • Culture themes from employee reviews
  • Talking points
  • Your stories to prepare
  • Sources, with a link and a date for every fact

Options

| Option | Effect | |---|---| | --claude | Install for Claude Code (.claude/skills) | | --codex | Install for Codex (.agents/skills) | | --both | Install for both | | -g, --global | Install in your home folder (all projects) | | -p, --project | Install in this project only | | --as <name> | Install one skill under a new name | | -y, --yes | Overwrite existing skills without asking | | -l, --list | Show available skills |

The menu needs a terminal. In a script, pass a skill, a tool and a place, for example npx wh-skills wh-company-brief --claude --global --yes.
