Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

common module for coordinating plugins

Readme

pluginCoordinator module

  • When the plugins pane is Opened, this module checks to see which plugins have been loaded (are present in W.plugins), then deactivates the "Load" buttons and changes them to "loaded", and changes the "Open" buttons to open, not load and open.

  • When a plugin is Loaded, it deactivates the Load button and change the Open button to just open.

  • For a the last opened windy-plugin (plugin that has focus): Sets lastOpened property of the opened windy-plugin to true, all the others to false, this allows switching off listeners in the inactive plugins. (Especially the weather picker).

  • Also for the plugin that looses focus (was lastOpened):

    • Calls the onOtherPluginOpened( the ident of the plugin being opened is sent as parameter ) method if it exists, in all the plugins that are not lastOpened. The lastOpened property is set to false after this function is called.
    • Sets the lastOpened property to false.
    • Closes the plugin, if it was open.
    • Sets the infobox div style to "none", if it exists. (W.plugins.windy-plugin-xxx.refs.infobox) I created this box to open the left pane, or add info. I use it in most of my plugins.
    • Clears the weather picker content.
  • The pluginCoordinator also checks if a mobile or tablet is used, and adds a button on the context menu to open the plugins-plugin.

  • The module is published here: https://www.npmjs.com/package/windyplugin-module-plugin-coordinator

  • Include it as an external dependency in the config file:

      dependencies: ['https://unpkg.com/[email protected]/dist/pluginCoordinator.js', .....]
  • Make sure the version is correct, if left out, the browser will use the cached version.

  • Version control added (thanks @jacobsjo).

  • It is defined and required once loaded, and does not export anything, thus does not have to be imported.
