Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

WP MCP Connect - Bridge Server

This is the official bridge server for the WP MCP Connect WordPress plugin. It acts as a standard Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that connects your local AI IDEs and agents (like Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, Google Antigravity, and Codex) to your WordPress site over REST API.

🚀 Quick Start

You don't need to install anything locally. You can run this bridge directly using npx if you have Node.js installed.

You will need two things from your WordPress site (available in the WP MCP Connect settings page):

  1. Base URL (e.g., https://yoursite.com)
  2. Access Token (e.g., abc123xyz)

General Command

npx -y wp-mcp-connect --url="https://yoursite.com" --token="YOUR_TOKEN"

🛠️ Integration Guides

1. Claude Desktop

Open your Claude Desktop configuration file:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

Add the following configuration:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "wordpress": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "wp-mcp-connect",
        "--url=https://yoursite.com",
        "--token=YOUR_TOKEN"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Restart Claude Desktop to apply the changes.

2. Cursor IDE

  1. Open Settings in Cursor and navigate to Features > MCP.
  2. Click + Add New MCP Server.
  3. Use the following parameters:
    • Name: WordPress
    • Type: command
    • Command: npx -y wp-mcp-connect --url="https://yoursite.com" --token="YOUR_TOKEN"

3. Windsurf IDE

Open your Windsurf configuration file:

  • macOS/Linux: ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json
  • Windows: %USERPROFILE%\.codeium\windsurf\mcp_config.json

Add the following configuration:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "wordpress": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "wp-mcp-connect",
        "--url=https://yoursite.com",
        "--token=YOUR_TOKEN"
      ]
    }
  }
}

4. Codex

Run the following command in your terminal using the Codex CLI:

codex mcp add wordpress -- npx -y wp-mcp-connect --url="https://yoursite.com" --token="YOUR_TOKEN"

5. Google Antigravity

Add a new MCP server with the following parameters:

  • Name: WordPress
  • Type: command
  • Command: npx -y wp-mcp-connect --url="https://yoursite.com" --token="YOUR_TOKEN"

🔒 Security

This bridge server acts purely as a pass-through proxy. It does not store your token or site data locally. All communication is sent directly from your local machine to your WordPress site over HTTPS.
