Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

chakra-email

npm NPM npm

React email components and templates with Chakra-style props, theme tokens, and email-safe HTML rendering.

Created by Ryan Hefner and Commune Software.

This is the main package for current Chakra UI v3-style token objects. It re-exports shared components and render utilities from @chakra-email/core.

Install

npm install chakra-email react react-dom

[!NOTE] chakra-email is ESM-only (no CommonJS build). Use import, or Node.js 20.19+ where require() of ESM modules is supported. Node.js 20.19.0 is the compatibility floor; Node.js 22 or 24 is recommended for new deployments.

Quick Start

import {
  Body,
  Button,
  ChakraEmailProvider,
  Container,
  Head,
  Heading,
  Html,
  Preview,
  Text,
  render,
} from 'chakra-email';

const theme = {
  tokens: {
    colors: {
      brand: {
        500: { value: '#6366f1' },
      },
    },
  },
};

const html = await render(
  <ChakraEmailProvider theme={theme}>
    <Html lang="en">
      <Head />
      <Preview>Your Acme account is ready.</Preview>
      <Body bg="gray.50">
        <Container bg="white" p={6} maxW="600px">
          <Heading as="h1" fontSize="2xl" mb={4}>
            Welcome!
          </Heading>
          <Text color="gray.700" mb={6}>
            Thanks for joining us.
          </Text>
          <Button
            href="https://example.com/get-started"
            bg="brand.500"
            color="white"
          >
            Get Started
          </Button>
        </Container>
      </Body>
    </Html>
  </ChakraEmailProvider>,
  { pretty: true },
);

Pass html to any email delivery provider. Use renderPlainText when the provider also accepts a plain-text alternative.

Markdown-Friendly Components

Use these primitives when mapping markdown nodes into an email body:

  • Text, Heading, Link
  • List, ListItem
  • Blockquote, Code, Pre, Hr
  • Img
  • Table, TableHead, TableBody, TableFoot, TableRow, TableHeader, TableCell, TableCaption

Keep raw HTML disabled in your markdown parser unless you sanitize it first.

Components

  • Document: Html, Head, Preview, Body
  • Layout: Container, Section, Row, Column, Box, Stack, Spacer
  • Text: Text, Heading, Link, Badge
  • Markdown blocks: Blockquote, Code, Pre, Hr
  • Lists and tables: List, ListItem, Table, TableHead, TableBody, TableFoot, TableRow, TableHeader, TableCell, TableCaption
  • Media and actions: Img, Button

Render Utilities

  • render(element, options) converts React email components to HTML.
  • renderPlainText(element) renders plain text directly from a React email.
  • pretty(html) formats generated HTML for debugging.
  • toPlainText(html) creates a plain-text approximation from rendered HTML.

Related Packages

  • @chakra-email/chakra-v2 supports legacy Chakra UI v2-style flat theme scales.
  • @chakra-email/core contains the shared primitives, renderer, theme resolver, and tests.
  • @chakra-email/preview provides local template discovery, live previews, variants, and email linting.
